Fathers, Sons and Green Beans

Seven friends, four boys and three girls, made a pact five years ago. Now they realize it wasn't such a good idea but a pact is a promise and no kid wants to be the one who didn't come through. Now they're eleven and twelve. During the day in this summer of 1953 they pick green beans for two cents a pound and watch for a chance to complete the pact. If they are caught there will be punishments and the fathers of some of the boys believe that severe punishments will make their sons better adults. This story is often funny and sometimes a bit scary. It will entertain readers from middle school to senior citizens.
