Midlife Memories

Midlife Memoirs is the story of a preacher who, as a nine-year-old boy, beat up the son of the woman who literally owned his dad's church. As a teenager, he addressed the presidential nominating convention of a national political party. As a college boy during "Hell Week," he got lost and spent the whole night in the woods after trying to sleep in an empty boxcar. He was one of the first people in the country to be a patient in the original motorized hospital bed and had the chief mourner at a funeral try to take the corpse out of the casket. At the request of the city police, he disarmed a Viet Nam vet who had taken his three-month-old son in the middle of the night. He caught thieves at gunpoint and, two years later, one said the experience had saved him from a life of crime. He contracted impetigo during his first baptisms as a student pastor and cured himself of stomach ulcers by changing his goal in life. He was in the middle of the Mediterranean when his ship's cruise line went bankrupt, and has stood on the equator, North Cape and Cape Horn, as well as being below the Antarctic Circle and hundreds of miles above the Arctic Circle. At age 85, Raymond Brown believes more adventures are just around the corner.
