Tug's Volunteer

Tug's Volunteer is the story of a solo schooner sailor and a Peace Corps Volunteer, whose paths cross in the underdeveloped town of Dangriga, Belize. “The dreaded call”came as Tug hurried to catch a connecting flight. Lars was dead. Maimiti was his. Leaving everything for the dream, Tug anchored in the lee of Tobacco Caye to satisfy a mandate from the grave. Leah Radcliff-Jones turned her back on grad school for more meaningful work in Peace Corps. At risk of being sent home for criticizing the agency’s complacency, she’d joined fellow volunteers on an Easter weekend getaway. Tug and Leah’s improbable meeting on a shaky third word landing launched a steamy second chance romance. As Leah turns Peace Corps on its ear and Tug rushes to fix poverty, their affair is threatened by very differing approaches to “doing good” but fueled by clever exchanges of a replica wooden blue butterfly.
