If America were to hold a contest for "least remarkable location," Stag City would win First Place. And yet, this town just cannot avoid being targeted by scheming supervillains or arcane monsters. In the grace period between hostile assaults, sixteen-year-old Rob tries to live as ordinarily as possible, even though his peers also make a habit of throwing his equilibrium out the window. There is Topp, Rob's charismatic best friend with a knack for games and software that belies a down-to-earth sensibility. Then there is Molly, hailed by Rob as "the hottest sophomore at Luz-Halata High," who holds secrets that are less than pretty. Last but not least, Stag City's one and only superhero Optimask swoops in and out of Rob's normal life like a casual breeze, fighting for the sake of peace and (lawful) justice. All of them will be forced to contend with the greatest evil no masked vigilante can triumph against -- human imperfection, and the consequences of seeing only one side of a larger whole.
