“There’s no easy way to say this,” my doctor said over the phone. “You have breast cancer, but you’re going to be fine.” Fine? Seriously? I was definitely not fine. I thought about my kids, I thought about my husband and my parents, and I thought about my eyelashes... I mean, how the heck was I gonna put mascara on if my eyelashes fell out? …and my whole world came to a complete and total stop. Let's face it, there's really nothing funny about cancer. But if you can keep the little stuff little and find the absurdity in the big, then getting through it is just a little easier.
