Nathan Bangs became one of the most influential leaders of the Wesleyan movement since Francis Asbury. Although he refused his election as Bishop, Bangs distinguished himself in the area of Methodist missions, publishing, leadership development and higher education. His imprint is still evident in the United Methodist Church, Wesleyan, Holiness and Pentecostal denominations.
