Accounting for Growth in the Banana Industry at Kitandu-Wassa Village: An Applied Research to Link Theory and Practice at a Village Level

There are three methods that are available to empirically estimate the Cobb-Douglas production function. The first method is based on the statistical analysis of time series data concerning the amount of various inputs used in various periods in the past and the amount of output produced in each period. The second method is based on the statistical analysis of cross section data concerning the amount of various inputs used and the output produced in various firms or sectors of the industry at a given point in time. The third method is based on technical information supplied by the engineer or the agricultural scientist. It uses engineering data. In this study on Accounting for Growth in the Banana Industry at Kitandu-Wassa Village a Cobb-Douglas production function is based on the statistical analysis of cross section data.
