Tunis, Anyone?: Nine separate historical tales each describing an encounter with one of the nine mythological muses

During the past 2,500 years, excepting the time of Carthaginian expansion, present day Tunisia has been occupied by a series of foreign invaders and settlers. This novel begins with the Judean diaspora in the sixth century B.C., and presents nine mythical tales that in order relate to episodes in the lives of the conqueror Hannibal, the orator and writer Apuleius, Saint Augustine's nemesis Pelagius, the Byzantine general Count Belisarius, the legendary female general El-Kahina, the Spanish general Don Juan de Austria, the French protector/diplomat Paul Cambon, and the French philosopher Albert Camus. Each of these nine snippets describes an historical personage cavorting with a frolicsome muse. The hope here is that these nine separate personal and sexual intrigues will help spice up the historical ventures, and lure you in.
