The Book of Cerualin

The book of Cerualin is the book of prophesies that has guided the Shereef for centuries. It writes of what is to come and if it is left unchallenged – so it will be. Together with the twelve Orsha stones, it served the Shereef well during the time of ‘the great freedom’ when the Shereef helped to overthrow the kings who kept the land in a perpetual state of starvation. The small kingdom of Carvaret remained peaceful, but the Shereef tribes became splintered in an internal power struggle. Now, the house of Pyrite rules the Shereef using fear as a tool for control. Through mainly foul means, this tribe has gathered to itself many of the powerful Orsha stones that help the Shereef to scry, create potent enchantments and heal. Only four of the twelve tribes still have their stone and resist the power hungry Supreme Oracle of Delphina. When the book of Cerualin foretold of the coming of a ‘Rara Avis’ to the house of Ameythst, it should have been a time of great rejoicing. Instead of celebrating such an auspicious event, this special child was hidden away. The Supreme Oracle searched desperately for the child and ruthlessly killed all those who stood in her way. Possession of the child would give her what she desired- all twelve Orsha stones, and with them complete power. The book of Cerualin fell silent soon after the ‘Rara Avis’ prophesy, and many believed the child to be dead. But fifteen years on, Raissa is very much alive. Her friends and family succeeded in hiding her in a small village where she remained undetected with the help of protective enchantments. However, Raissa's purpose is too strong for their crystal charms and as she grows, so does her power. When the village of Grestna is beseiged by the troops of Carvaret, her friends realise that they have served their purpose and her time has come. Raissa has been schooled in Shereef ways, but will it be enough? The book of Cerualin has begun to prophesy about her again and it won't be long before the Supreme Oracle hunts her down. Raissa must now learn the truth about her past so that she can guide the book of Cerualin to write her future.
