"Rockin' Nam": The "Nam" story you never heard

a 19 year/old GI gets orders to S. Viet Nam in 1970...within days, he gets a gig as the lead singer & lead guitarist in a rock band...They have a wild time...They become the most popular band in 1971...He battles sex, drugs, & craziness the entire time...the band gets filmed by ABC news at China Beach...he is chased by Thai officials while on R & R in Bangkok...he is thrown in jail in Saigon by MPs for wearing a California flag sewn on the back of his fatigue jacket...the band performs for a P.O.W. camp where the U.S. is holding the enemy (some as young as 9). He starts to get jaded and cocky but in the end, he realizes how much the music means to his fellow GIs...on orders from General Westmoreland, the band does one last "Woodstock-like" concert for thousands of soldiers who are sick from drugs & alcohol...the band ROCKS! he finally sees what his mission was. There's not a dry eye at the show. He finally get orders to go home but Drugs are in his system and he has to stay an extra week in a barbed-wire rehab compound.
