Mr. Hocklenutty's Magic Glasses (Telling Tales with Mr. Hocklenutty)

“Mr. Hocklenutty was not happy. His glasses were filthy dirty. Bent. Twisted. And broken. They broke when Mr. Hocklenutty fell. ” That’s how this modern fable begins. By the end of the story old Mr. Hocklenutty is quite happy and feels young again. Are the “magic glasses” responsible for his newfound “youth” or is it something a little more tangible than magic? This story was “dreamed up” with some adorable first graders and uniquely illustrated with 13 gifted and talented 4th graders from Pennsauken, NJ. In addition to being great kids, their enthusiasm to “do and learn” promises to make them awesome adults. The students helped conceive illustrations and then took part in producing them. In fact, they're in them! They also created a comprehension quiz that can be found at the end of the book. First through 4th graders can enjoy this story on its own, but we’ll bet you a delicious EisenCream cone that they’ll appreciate it even more when it’s read with them by a grandfather or grandmother, not necessarily their own, who cherishes their “kidness.” The release of this book follows the publication and mini tour of S F Hochman’s “laZy, craZy & amaZing: The ZequIllustration.” laZy, crazy & amaZing follows the journey of the feisty letter Z. Z is tired... tired of being last. Dr. Letterburger listens and allows Z to appreciate his place in the alphabet and the world. The author challenged elementary school students to enter his illustration contest. The result is an absolutely adorable and highly imaginative book with 15 illustrations for kids BY KIDS.
