Technology Economics: Propylene from Methanol

A comprehensive study about the process to produce propylene from methanol, a promising alternative that arises to fulfill the needs for novel on-purpose propylene production technologies based on low-cost feedstock. The technical aspects of a methanol-to-propylene process similar to the Lurgi MTP technology are reviewed. The analysis also includes estimates for both the capital investment and the operating costs of typical plants on the US Gulf Coast and in China.
