Are you really prepared?! (“True Devotion to Mary” Series – Book 3)

Everyone knows that to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail. This book contains everything you need to make a complete and thorough preparation for your consecration to Jesus through Mary as taught by St. Louis-Marie de Montfort. It will lead you very clearly, step-by-step through each of the four stages of the preparation. No stone is left unturned. Plessis, Montfort Father, wrote: “The plan drawn for this month gives us the true code for the Montfortian spiritual exercises and makes Montfort the emulator of St. Ignatius of Loyola. ‘Month’ is taken in a special sense, because of the number of days granted to each week: 12 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 30. One could also take three weeks of 7 days; which brings the total to 33. But on the other hand, the figure of 12, granted to the first period, seems to be rather a minimum: ‘Having employed 12 days at least’.”

You know how we learn more from what people do than from what they say, and how when we are trying to accomplish something, it is always helpful to have encouragement and the example of someone who has accomplished it? Well, in addition to the special meditations for each day, this book (and this is what sets it apart from other books) supplements each meditation with a passage drawn from the life of St. Louis-Marie, showing how he lived the subject of the meditation.

Regarding the second week of the preparation, the author himself speaks about another great feature of this book, which also sets it apart: “We indicated for every day a chapter of St. Alphonsus Liguori’s delightful little work, “The Glories of Mary”, a commentary on the Salve Regina. It is a book eminently suitable to make known to us the merciful heart of Mary, and to increase our confidence and love for so good a Mother, because, besides what belongs to the holy author, we find innumerable excerpts from the Fathers and the Doctors there. We have, then, the thought of the Church on the Most Blessed Virgin.”
