Funny things happen when you go to an educator’s conference. Getting away from the daily chaos and insanity that is teaching, you come away with all these great ideas and things you just know you have to try. Because you know that when you get them done they will have changed everything, made everything better. That’s why you go to conferences, right? And then those teachers get back to school, and back to the daily chaos and insanity. All those lofty ideas? They get beaten up, reshaped by an 8-hour day, and turned into a reality-based version of their former selves. It’s like using Silly Putty as a kid: Imprint the comic on the putty and then see how warped it gets until you barely even know what it was. Sometimes, though, some ideas are too good to leave behind.
