A computer programing error results in Sammy Dawes and his ancestors being locked away from the outside world for nearly 400 years. Forced by circumstances beyond its control, the computer initiates a program designed to acclimate Sammy and the others to survive in an unknown world.Against his will, Sammy is forced to lead a group of students ill equipped to exist in this new world. Forced to follow the sometimes errant directions of a rogue computer, they struggle to learn new skills in an atmosphere of distrust from parents and other adults. As they venture forth into places unknown they develop the skills and character traits necessary for survival in a world left devastated by their ancestors. They encounter challenges and problems as they learn to deal with a new but old reality. Can they venture forth and build a better world? Or will dependence on the scraps of former technology they learn to use force them back into the cave? Only time will tell.
