Beyond the Darkness

This is a story of two imperfect young men who sacrificed several years of their youth while serving in the military during World War II. Despite their initial idealism, Alan Jansen and Don O'Brien soon discovered that life was not the utopia they expected upon their discharge from the service. The challenges that they would face demanded a perseverance that neither men anticipated in this Post-War era. Alan would discover that his love, Ruth Tully failed him while he was away at war – or at least it seemed that way. His old-time sweetheart and friend would share a life-changing experience with her confidant, while offering her own personal sacrifice of advice and caring. Don O'Brien's life would become complicated by uncertainty over choosing a true vocation in life. Discovering an attraction for Marge Jansen, he would find a wise and understanding companion who helped untangle his dilemma – but much to her chagrin.
