Look! We Have Come Through: The 15th Anniversary of the Japanese Association for Asian Englishes

The name of this book, Look! We Have Come Through! , is from D. H. Lawrence’s collection of poetry with the same title, even though we have nothing to do with this English writer. Until recently, many of our colleagues had no idea what “Asian Englishes” might be, and even after acquiring some knowledge, they saw no need in studying and doing research on these varieties of English. All the while they disregarded Englishes in the Outer Circle as something that fell short of native speakers’ varieties, the Japanese Association for Asian Englishes was always moving forward. Looking back on these 15 years, in which we have truly come through, I have compiled this little book to celebrate our 15th anniversary. May JAFAE be even more prosperous in the future!
