When social upheaval spurs the mass production of home-built DIY robotic assassins, the results are more catastrophic than anyone could have foreseen. As the world collapses and the robots adapt and evolve on their own, the lone survivor of the Penn State engineering facility dedicates himself to studying the psychological and scientific phenomenon that have destroyed the world. Committed to the theory that people and robots are inherently good, he pursues proof of this in a post-apocalyptic America, accompanied by a mysterious companion - one of the robots. Far from acting to harm the Professor, the robot acts as a nurturer to him. He is a fellow academic, after all. Determined to fight this robotic incursion with his new found knowledge, he sets out on a journey to reclaim the world - but this world does not follow the rules he knows...
