Roadbone

Roadbone is a fictional autobiography of failure, betrayal, and suicide. While wandering around in a desert rainstorm, the reader comes upon the protagonist's tent, pitched in the middle of nowhere. The narrator offers shelter from the storm, and as old people so often do, he begins relating his life's history to his visitor. The story is a maze of misery, sex, and violence, as told by a man who is surprisingly likable and rational in his reasoning, if not necessarily justified in his actions.
