Ten Past Midnight in Kosovo

Following months of war, the city of Pec is occupied by international forces. New Year’s Eve 2000, Gyorgy (the narrator) and his friends are confronted with a potentially explosive situation. Across from his damaged home, two burnt corpses and an ampoule of morphine. Who to trust amidst the rubble? Gyorgy, who awaits news of his lost family with dread, begins his own personal investigation, whose findings will not please everyone. Ten to Midnight in Kosovo is a story which reminds us how fragile our certainties really are. Finalist in the Points Noir 2000 national short fiction contest.
