A doctoral dissertation exploring this thesis: One can understand O’Connor’s strangeness by viewing her work with the eyes of the medieval exegete and analyzing her work as medieval drama, akin to the purpose of the dramatists of the medieval miracle, mystery, and morality plays, as seen in medieval and Renaissance England.
