Electromagnetic Theory (ELECTROSTATICS) (Volume 1)

Electromagnetic Theory is one of the most fundamental and essential subject for the student pursuing a Bachelors’ degree course in Electronics Engineering and Electrical Engineering. There are a number of text books written by many authors. Having been teaching for the past so many years, the author felt the need to present the subject to the freshmen and sophomore students pursuing engineering degree course to suit their needs. The author has felt the need to give elaborate mathematical derivations in most cases so that the student feels at home while solving the problems. During the course of teaching over a long period, a number of books and monographs were referred and fruitful discussions with colleagues. Mention must be made of Prof. T.D.Bhatt and Prof. Narendra Soni for their critical analysis and inquisitive questions. A few selected reference text books are given at the end. No book is devoid of deficiencies and the author welcomes constructive criticism and suggestions to improve the text which shall be included in the next edition and duly acknowledged. A few more topics are proposed to be included in the second volume which will be on Magneto statics and Maxwell’s equations.
