The Chicago Burhop Family: Herbert Richard Burhop

This book was prepared in honor of Herbert Richard Burhop, his father, grandfather and great grandfather. It is the story of the Chicago Burhops immigration from Germany to Illinois. It is the story of a German family desiring a better life in the new world and the successful advancement of that family in three generations from poverty to prosperity. All the Burhops from the Chicago area are descendants of Heinrich Friedrich Burhop, who emigrated from the Hanover area of present day Germany in 1854. This project reviews the first five generations of the Chicago Burhop family through Herbert Richard Burhop and his three sons. There are now eight generations of Chicago Burhops. This book should be informative to these later generations and to other Burhops living throughout the United States, Germany and Great Britain.
