Sister Faustina: Apostle of Divine Mercy

THE wondrous Mercy of God is becoming ever more manifest. Never has the need been greater of seeing the goodness of God revealed in both our personal soul-life, and in the family and social life. Dom Colwnba Marmion sums up ably the mission of Jesus upon earth: "Jesus is the message of infinite Mercy, delivered to the misery of man." In the words of St. Paul: "Jesus is the same yesterday and today, and for eternity." (Heb. XIII, 8) Also as Head of the ,Mystical Body, the Church, Christ continues throughout all time His work of salvation and sanctification. May this book aid us to appreciate, love and glorify here on earth, as it is glorified in Heaven, this immense gift of God: His infinite Mercy! Sister Faustina Kowalska spent but a brief time upon earth (1905-1938). On the Feast of st. Stanislaus Kostka, the Church sings the words of the Book of Wisdom IV 13: “ Being made perfect in a short space, he fulfilled a long time." This passage of scripture applies most aptly to the humble Lay sister of the convent of Lagiewniki, near Cracow. Indeed during her brief life, seemingly similar to so many other Religious, she fulfilled the mission that God had confided to her: "0 my God:' she writes in her spiritual diary. January 30, 1938, "my sole task during this life, and in the hereafter, and for all eternity, is to glorify Thy unfathomable mercy.” In the early 1950's this biography of Sister Faustina was published to promote the devotion of Divine Mercy. One will find some great insights into Secretary of Jesus and her life in this wonderful book.
