Porcupine Boy

The Author is an enrolled Oglala Sioux Tribal Member OST 15990. This is the story of a Oglala Lakota Sioux Indian who was born on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota and was able to overcome the prejudice and discrimination in the Northern Plains States on his journey to become one of three hundred Directional Drilling Engineers in the World while living in six countries. His company Dowell Schlumberger Services was Headquartered in Paris, France. He supervised Offshore and Land Oil and Gas Drilling Operations for major Oil Companies around the world. He had to make million dollar on the spot decisions during drilling operations. Any downtime could cost $ 40,000 – 500,000 per day. After ten years working International he returned to California to consult as a operations manager in the field of contaminated soil remediation at gas stations and oil refineries in 1983. Maybe my story will inspire other American Indian Youth to pursue his or her dreams of competing in the Whitemans world outside the reservation.
