Mobile Learning Environments: Readings in Open Research

This book presents and highlights a selection of contemporary 'open research' articles on Mobile Learning. Mobile learning or "m-learning" is a subset of e-learning that focuses on learning across various educational contexts using mobile devices. M-learning devices or technologies include handheld computers, notebooks, mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, and personal digital assistants, among others. The key features of mobile learning are: its ability to provide learning that is just-in-time, learning that is situated (typically in the field or at the workplace); and learning that is contextualized through mediation with peers and teachers. M-learning also brings portability by replacing books and digital devices that store content, are simple to utilize, and provide for a more effective and entertaining experience. Today, the portability and affordability of smaller handheld wireless devices make mobile learning a logical choice for many students and educators alike.
