The Year of THE FRUGIE

What is a Frugie you ask? The word was coined in 2011 by me with the root being "Frugal" and as a play on the popular "Foodie" term used to describe a person with a special interest and knowledge of food, a real gourmet. A Frugie is simply a Foodie with a particular interest in or knowledge of cheap and typically fast food, a proud dollar menu millionaire. I've lived my life as a Frugie and on February 28, 2011, I established the daily blog: The Frugie. The blog was dedicated to cost savvy eaters - "those that seek out deals and don't leave home without restaurant coupons stuffed in their wallets/purses." http://thefrugie.blogspot.com/ I began documenting every work lunch and providing some commentary on my thought process and plan for keeping under a very low and self imposed $5 budget for the week ($1 a day). I found this to be a fun outlet to express myself and tried to insert some humor about my cheapness in when applicable (i.e. always). I originally kept this personal journal to just my family, but word spread to a few close friends and I gained some loyal followers. The pressures of my job didn’t allow for me to keep blogging daily on a consistent basis and I would hear about that from some of my most dedicated readers, so that support inspired me to write this book. I’ve captured all of my posted blogs through half of my year as “The Frugie” and I finished documenting the remainder of the year in this book thus “The Year of The Frugie” title. I also added in some additional frugie themed insights and tips for each month on record.
