'king Zeus - Preylude: Vengeance ('king Zeus Sagas) (Volume 1)

The werld is at war. Between races; ancient lore is utilised by humanity to bring forth alien beings of bounded might to do the bidding of their ‘Summoners’. Yet a terrible revenge is being plotted as a means of retribution for this outrage. Between nations; with the dominant subjugating the least powerful, pillaging the bounty of this strife: guld and slaven. Men lust after these commodities and fashion their desires around their conquering armies. Between men and women; wealth and power is seen as the natural domain of the elitist hierarchy – a favoured order built around male governance and profit. Where this is contested no mercy is shown within the system’s retribution. ‘king Zéus-Preylude is the first in a series of chronicles of these times. It opens on the steps of the Domination’s seat of authority, and takes up the story with the mission set for one of its prime soldats; Quillon. But all is not as it seems, and Quillon is soon made aware of just how ephemeral good fortune is as he’s sold out by his own superiors. But through this betrayal he meets Vengeance, a Sacrificial of the Zealen faith, and finds an alternative way of viewing his werld and his life. Cut adrift from all he once held as sacrosanct Quillon has to fight to survive, and for his sanity. Vengeance is torn by devotion to her God, and for the love of life outwith this servitude. Together they journey through a werld that accepts no deviation from its chosen elite, once they step off the path then they are truly outlaws. If it had been mere governments and mortals they had to fight they may have stood a chance, as it is there is a whole universe of lore and chicanery beyond the tangible werld they now seek to fashion in the image of their own values. Their story impacts on many other lives, offering opportunity and sealed fate to those entangled in the web strung about them. And always their own future lies within an evil balance, as one of the alien race, the E’Boline, is summoned to hunt them down. A being that cannot return to its own until it has fulfilled its duty – a duty to kill one or both of them. ‘king Zéus - Preylude finishes with the outbreak of the ‘pestilence’, a contagion that will threaten the very future of humanity. Will Vengeance and Quillon’s legacy to the werld be enough to help the survival of the race, or will the greed and power lust of nations, deities and men allow no such burgeoning of hope .....
