Persuasion

“I hate to hear you talk about all women as if they were fine ladies instead of rational creatures. None of us want to be in calm waters all our lives.” ..........Jane Austen completed her final novel, “Persuasion” in 1816. She died just one year later, age 41. “Persuasion” was originally published bound in a single volume with “Northanger Abbey” as both novels were set in the fashionable city of Bath, of which Austen was well acquainted. While essentially a touching love story, Austen nonetheless expresses her profound concerns about the pressures and choices facing the young women of her day.
