A Sin for a Son

Luisa Chapman’s fourth rejection of Walter Radcliffe’s marriage proposal opens the story in England 1942. A year later she meets and marries Dr. Laurence Medford whose one demand is that she give him a son. The story follows the Medfords to Kenya and back to England while Luisa braves her many pregnancies and birth of daughters. When Luisa reconnects with Walter, and his growing family of boys, she is tempted to take drastic measures to give Laurence his longed for son. The births of additional Medford and Radcliffe children, an African juju man curse, injuries and deaths of spouses and a large inheritance add complication as Luisa, the Medfords, Radcliffes, and their children’s lives are carried through unimagined twists and turns.
