Description
This book is my personal story of experiences with Crohn’s disease over the past 47 years. In an effort to heal, I spent many years working with physical and alternative therapies for Crohn’s while attending various support group meetings, reading internet boards and the medical literature, speaking with physicians and health care professionals, and talking with other patients. I have compiled my various experiences with the disease, what I have learned, the good and bad decisions I made, and what has helped me to achieve better mental and physical health. While the physical ailment of Crohn’s disease is painful and distressing, in my experience the loss of hope and the mental pain of anger, fear, worry, and sadness have been the most significant challenges. Crohn’s disease is an ailment that ebbs, flows, and makes planning difficult. I cannot always count on what life will be like next year, next month, or even the next day but I have learned to take charge where I can and build health. I hope my ideas for managing Crohn’s provide new hope for others who want to create better health and live well with this chronic disease.
