In ancient times, the gods that created Endra and its people left their world to fend for itself. Bloodshed and turmoil followed in the vacuum of their Departure. In the lifetimes that followed, there were no love stories. The mortals left behind had to develop their own laws, their own beliefs. The powerful didn't strive for triumph and wealth, but basic survival. A sliver of knowledge or the crafting of a simple machine could be more valuable than all the temples and divine powers of the past. Humanity barely survived. Morality was dead … but necessity forged a new world. A thousand years later, Salvueh Atticus, an inquisitor, is pulled from his forced retirement to solve a heinous murder.
