A Road to Change:: Harlan County
Description
For over a century, coal has been a leading employer and lifestyle for Harlan County KY. It was prosperous and turbulent leading to the nickname "Bloody Harlan" and negative labels, images, and perceptions. Once the mines started closing and jobs were lost the resilient people are surviving. The county sits in the Appalachian Mountains and offers an abundance of adventures from hunting, hiking, fishing, four-wheeling, and ziplining. This book will show the effects coal has had on the county and people and what they are doing today to make a better life. This book also is complimentary to the documentary DVD by Kaci Productions.
