The Diary of Black Men subtitled How Do You Love a Black Woman is the longest running touring play in the history of Black Theatre. It set the mold for what we now know as Urban Theatre in that it followed the cry of the great intellectual W.E.B. Dubois who made an appeal for "theatre by us, about us , for us and near us." This pioneering production paved the way for the likes of Shelly Garrett, David E. Talbert and Tyler Perry.However the substance of this play is what sets it apart from all others. Author and original cast member Franklin J. Anderson who played the"Intellectual" tells the story of one of the greatest stories never told...until now.
