Dear Sister is Christine Tryon's memoir about her personal journey with breast cancer; the importance of faith, family and friendship; the lessons that she learned and what she wishes she had known beforehand. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as such is a member of the world's largest sisterhood and support group for women: The Relief Society. She joined the church at the age of nineteen and considers herself immensely blessed by the examples of her sisters who follow the motto: Charity Never Faileth. Christine chose the title: Dear Sister, for her memoir because she did not have any sisters when she was growing up. She has one brother, named Bob. She did not have any close friends that were girls until she was twelve years old. She considers herself a 'thriver.' A survivor who is thriving two and half years after being initiated into a sisterhood that no woman would ever willingly join. Christine believes that one of the reasons she was blessed with breast cancer is so that she can use her experience to help other women who have received a similar diagnoses. Every woman who has been diagnosed with breast cancer has her own unique story to share. Her experiences become her truth and that is different for everyone. Survivors speak a different language than most people. They understand what a woman is going through and can relate to her in a way that nobody else can.
