A Natural Gentleman

The year is 1702. Puritan culture in the Bay Colony is firmly established. European ways have supplanted those of the Red Man, bringing societal calamities of pestilence, war, English arrogance and bigotry. A young half-breed is offered an unusual chance to break free of the lowest class, to be educated as a gentleman and, perhaps, to become a part of colonial gentry. His personal struggle for acceptance is interrupted by a quest to free his sea captain father from captivity and by his love for a woman far above his social station.
