Description
Actual fact. Secondhand hearsay. Faded memory. Wishful fantasy. This book contains accounts of my life based on one of these. Most is actual fact as I recall it. Naturally, as I get older, my memory gets a little fuzzy. However, a faded memory is better than no memory at all. There may even be a few cases where I have fantasized for years about something happening a certain way. Constant fantasies can work their way into your mind as a reality. The big problem is it is almost impossible for someone of my age to differentiate what the memory of a particular fact is based on. A memory is a memory. This is not meant to be a historical or literary document. Not only do I want my descendants to know me, but also I feel they may be able to get a clearer picture of the zeitgeist (look it up), the mood of the people and country, and of the physical and social environment of my time. I read a quote once, which said, “No one is ever gone until they are forgotten.” Hopefully, this autobiography will keep me and some of my ancestors around for awhile.
