📖 Description
Gunnery Sergeant Perceval Michelangelo Stone, after 39 years in the Marine Corp, is suddenly medically retired. He is handed his separation papers because the vision in his left eye comes and goes. Thirty-nine years of service to his country – always first to step forward, first to go where ever he was needed – until he was needed somewhere else. All of his life had been about being a Marine; living on a base, living in strange places, learning strange customs, and even stranger languages. Now he is handed his papers and told to go home. Now he must face his own devils, his own demons, to search within – to find who he is now, who he has become. He must deal with a strange culture and people he has no understanding of – the civilians of the United States. In an effort to find his peace, he ends up beside a tranquil lake watching a perfect sunset. And then the phone rings….
