Hobo Annie Hits The Road

As a child, Annie planned to visit China...via a hole she was digging in the backyard! As she grew into an adult, her dreams of traveling the world became fearful hesitation at the thought of leaving home. She was afraid to fly, afraid to be lost in an unfamiliar land filled with strangers she wouldn't understand. She read the words of other explorers, but wasn't brave enough to find out for herself.

Six months after the tragedy of September 11th her husband, Bearwalker, made the terrifying suggestion that Annie should climb aboard a plane and visit England—alone. Armed with his parting advice, a generous supply of motion-sick pills, composition book, pen, and far too much luggage, she gripped her flotation seat cushion tightly, tried not to faint, and flew out over the ocean on her first adventure abroad.

Ten years and eight countries later, the detailed journals she kept during each of her journeys filled a shelf, bursting with enthusiasm and begging to be shared with others who might be hesitant to take that first step.
