This is the first in a series of books by Ned Alexander telling the stories of Amber and William. Amber, a daydreamer, is punished by her teacher Miss Higgins for breaking class rules. This punishment leads to Amber having to complete a term project with another unpopular student, William, and involves members of the community. Amber decides to find the 'smelliest tramp' she can find to give Miss Higgins a taste of her own medicine. Soon however Amber and William find themselves having to turn to the very people they set out to exploit in order to save the world. This story is about friendship, courage and about not judging a book by it's cover. Though the Stories of Amber and William are a series of tongue in cheek adventures, they also aim to cover a series of subjects, homelessness, prejudice, bullying, disabilities etc.
