Direitos, Democracia e Acesso aos Meios de Comunicação de Massa: Um estudo comparado sobre pluralismo interno na televisão (Portuguese Edition)

This book, written in Portuguese, carries out a comparative analysis between Germany, Spain, USA and Brazil in order to investigate mechanisms aimed at creating internal pluralism in television content, i.e. legal and regulatory mechanisms applicable to programming, establishing rights and obligations with the purpose of ensuring that the broadcasted content is representative of the points of view and opinions of different actors and social groups. From a theoretical standpoint, the existence of mechanisms to create internal pluralism in media is considered a relevant element for the constitution of a democratic public sphere, based, according to Habermas’s approach, on the recognition of social tensions as a constitutive condition of contemporary democracy and on the recognition of human rights as a guarantee that all actors have the possibility of participating in the political and normative decision-making processes that may affect them.
