Guide to the Federal Credit Bureau Program

The DCIA was enacted through the cooperation of major Federal Government credit granting agencies, the OMB, the Chief Financial Officers Council and the Department of the Treasury. The DCIA significantly enhanced the Debt Collection Act of 1982. The DCIA requires Federal agencies to report to credit reporting agencies, information on all delinquent Federal consumer debts. The DCIA also authorizes the submission of information on consumer debtors considered as “current.”
