The Scholar's Key is a teen-to-teen advice book aimed at motivating students to apply for scholarships. It was written shortly after the height of Donovan's senior year of high school when he received several award letters from national scholarships such as the Gates Millennium Scholarship and the Buick Achiever Scholarship.
