The Eleanor Venture: A Memoir by Eleanor Carlson Flanders

This is the life story of Eleanor Carlson Flanders, a woman whose first home was a tent sitting out on the plains of western Kansas and who, as the oldest of seven siblings and daughter of a farmer, lived through the Depression, Dust Bowl, World War II, and a series of personal challenges to eventually become an influential community leader of the town of Longmont, Colorado. With a degree in journalism and finally having the time and inclination to look back on her long life, she wrote this memoir in her nineties, hoping to provide a woman's voice from her generation and a first-person witness to the major historical events of 20th C. America.
