The Markets

When Tony Vanetti’s brother and business partner Nick became incurably ill a few years ago he was forced into retirement, leaving Tony to manage one of the cities biggest fruit and veg markets by himself. Bound by the pressures of such a huge enterprise on his own, circumstances took control and Tony was spending more time at the markets trying to protect his investment from all sorts of predators... rather than time at home with his wife and daughters. One evening Tony and his wife Teresa were hosting a business dinner when one of Tony’s so called business associates crept into their fourteen year old daughter’s bedroom and sexually assaulted her. Jasmine tried to tell her mother and sister, but it was put on hold because “the scandal would ruin the business.” Four years later: Greg a naïve country boy had enough of farming life and after talking things over with his mother and father he decided to move to the city seeking a change. Greg finds a unit right in the heart of the city and one beautiful sunny morning he finds himself at the busy Westside markets. Hearing a soft voice crying, Greg sees a woman slumped over and grasping to the side of one of the fruit and veg stalls. He hurries to her assistance and suspecting a heart attack, Greg renders first aid until the ambulance arrives, but little does he know that the woman's life he saved was Tony's wife, Teresa and from that point in time Greg and the Vanetti family lives were changed dramatically.
