Everybody knows God loves trouble-making, stinky, punky kids, so how hard can it be for a group of energetic nuns to convince three tough orphans that God makes a great dad? He volleys back and forth with M, a raucous, conniving, and stubborn Sister who’s a little worried about Auggie because he just isn’t sure whether he believes in God. She has her plan of attack though and she’ll use the Bible, her anecdotes, and the occasional whack on the head to get through to him. As his curiosity is piqued, Augustine shares what he learns with his friends, Jose and Sammy. His interpretations give a hilarious and sometimes poignant spin on things, starting with Augustine’s dissection of the Lord’s Prayer for Jose who is having trouble understanding the "Art" Father. “It’s...about location. Actually, the whole thing reminds me almost of a long distance phone call. That’s where your ‘art’ part comes in. ‘Who art in Heaven?’ See, think of it as…we art here and God art up there somewhere in the deep blue yonder.” He waved his hands above their heads. “He’s floating around art in Heaven and taking care of business. And like, thank God that Sister Irene art somewhere else in the building, ‘cause she’s going to kick us into next week for sitting around.” Augustine asks some pretty deep questions too, like why aren’t there any believable stories about miracles? Like maybe a guy who’s stuck in his Porsche on the expressway actually gets some help for a change! Now that’s a miracle. And why doesn’t Jesus gotta' dog?!
