Countdown to an Engineering Career This is a biography of how Joe Berardi became a missile design engineer working at a major aerospace company in the ninety-eighties. This book tells the story of his humble beginning growing up in Rochester, New York and discovering the world of engineering. He tells his life story how he developed interest in building things including model rockets that eventually lead him to two separate missile development projects at Martin Marietta where they were building intercontinental ballistic missiles for the United States Air Force. He chronicles his journey of becoming an effective lead design engineer and managing a small engineering design team building ground support electronic equipment for launching the Peacekeeper missile and how a “No-Go” signal at Vandenberg Air force Base turned his world upside down. He tells his journey of making a startup company, moving on to a long engineering career at StorageTek and eventually winding down his career at Intel and life after an exciting engineering career.
