Description
Displacement is a major problem that is faced by the many states world over. Therefore, it is no denying the fact that the problem has the universal extent, which needs the universal framework for ensuring respite at large. There has to be an inclusive approach to overcome this critical human problem. Lacking any international support the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) is a likely to be much worse than that of refugees. The present work tried to differentiate the displacement in different ways. In first way, study examined the conflict-induced displacement such as war, war-like situation between two countries apart from terrorism. On the other hand, displacement has been taking place because of various developmental projects and natural disaster. The rise of militancy in the Valley of Kashmir and its adjoining areas since 1989 led to politico- ethnic divide between the two major communities inhabiting the Valley, which resulted into displacement. The largest situation of internal displacement stems from conflict in Kashmir between the Indian security forces and militants who have been seeking either independence or accession to Pakistan. The large number of displacement has occurred due to militancy activity and people do not want to go back to their native places because of insecurity. It become an overflowing stream and in the month of march many families living in Kashmir Valley had been displaced and since then have living in government run camps in Jammu and other states. This displacement has not only disturbed the composite character of Kashmir identity and society, but has also imbalanced economic equations in Valley.
