Spirits Rebellious & The Broken Wings
Description
We are proud to bring together in one volume TWO classics by Khalil Gibran -writer of "The Prophet"- . Gibran's father was arrested for fraud and his mother was a peddler... However, he was capable to write great poems and short stories full of beauty and tranquility. He took his suffering and transformed it into a positive philosophy and powerful writing. The Broken Wings is considered Gibran’s best writing in Arabic. The prose poem, set in Lebanon, is written in the first person and skillfully uses everyday words. The author engages the reader in a depiction of emotion, alienation, and the longing for connections. ‘Spirits Rebellious’ compiles three independent stories that announce Gibran’s rebellious though process. When it was published, Lebanon was under Turkish rule and virtual slavery. The book declared freedom, liberation, justice for all and talked about humility in humanity. It was burned publicly in Lebanon and Gibran was forced in exile.
