Description
A novel dealing with background of 1857 sepoy uprising in India against East India Company's rule. The plot takes place in Bithur where Bajirao, Second, last Peshawa of Peshawa dynasty was leaving on pension. Nanasaheb Peshawa, Tatya Tope, and Maharani of Jhanshi were the main leaders in this uprising. The story depicts their childhood on the banks of Ganges. The sepoy uprising started in Meerut and soon spread mostly all over northwest India. It brought dissolution of East India Company, Britain and queen Victoria officially took over governance of India. Bajirao second, last peshawa, was unfortunately unable to keep Maratha confederacy together and intact. All his efforts to organize effective resistance against expanding British imperialism turned futile because of inconsistency.
